LAS CRUCES, New Mexico — Cece Meadows of Las Cruces, founder of Indigenous makeup brand Prados Beauty, started her career in finance and was making six figures living the dream.

But she found herself homeless after her cancer treatments left her broke and ended up living in her car in the parking lot of Walmart with her two kids.

Despite her personal struggles, she is the first Xicana/Indigenous beauty brand to head a makeup show at New York Fashion Week as well as the first Indigenous/Xicana makeup brand to launch a makeup campaign and line geared towards Indigenous people. It is also the first globally known Indigenous/Xicana beauty brand.

She says: “My brand was started on the mission to break down the marginalization of Indigenous people in the beauty industry.”

Meadows’ story was featured to a nationwide audience Tuesday on the Tamron Hall Show. You can watch the entire segment in the video player at the top of this article.
